It's Thursday again, which means I am once again using pictures from my past as blodding fodder for today.
Here is a picture of my hubby and I in the spring of 1997 at an All Night Bowling event for my youth group. Please take note of the shirt I am wearing.
Two and a half years later here we are in October of 1999 at a College Football game. Notice I still have the same shirt. No shame in that... someone can have the same shirt 3 years later, right?
Last night my sister in law, Karen was in town and she went shopping with me to help me find some things to update my wardrobe. I had a blast trying on new things and felt like I was on reality TV as I would come out of the dressing room and model outfits for her. The night was a success as I came home with quite a few items. She suggested we go to my closet and find what clothes I already had that I could use with some of the new things. I felt like I was on the show What Not to Wear as I pulled multiple items out of my closet and said, "I've had that since High School..." Take a look at the shirt I put in the donation pile.
Hmmm, 11 years later , I think it is time to say goodbye to this one, don't you? (yes, it was still in the pile of cloths I wore)
As I was scanning these pictures in, I noticed that Scott is wearing the same hat in both pictures. Seriously, what are the odds? We both are wearing the same clothes 2.5 years a part and happen to take pictures at both events? This made me laugh. We are quite the fashion trend setters aren't we? (no, he does not still have the hat).

WOW! It was a nice shirt though, at least nothing embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteYou definalty got your monies worth there!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it held up so well! And I gained so much weight after kids and then lost so much weight, I have has several new wardrobes. I am glad you had fun shopping!
ReplyDeleteIt's cool, I have clothes like that! Somehow, we get thrown to the back burner as we have to buy the little ones new clothes all the time.
ReplyDeleteAt least it shows you're frugal! :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry - you must have got that bad habit from me. I also can find pictures of some well worn clothes that date back TOO MANY years :-) It takes some blasts from the past to let them go. Glad you had a good time shopping - it is much more fun with someone else to encourage you.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! It must have been a favorite. Not too long ago, I cleaned out my closets and I had stuff from years and years ago! It happens. Don't be too hard on yourself :D
ReplyDeletethat's so funny! the first thing i noticed was scott's hat too! makes me think i could stand to do some closet cleaning of my own....
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had fun shopping!!! I'm not gonna let my husband know about this post though...don't want him to know how un-frugal I am :)
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny. Must be really hard to let it go though....usually clothes like that get more comfy with time. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious! Really what are the odds? More likely in my house for hubby to have the same shirt or hat. I always change my mind on what I like and throw almost everything in the yard sale pile, but not hubby. Where it til it's nasty is his motto. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI too have clothes that are from years ago, some that I will wear and then something will trigger a memory and all of a sudden think wow I was wearing this same "whatever" 5 years ago...
Hahahaha! I hate to admit it, but I have a series of photos just like that! The saddest part of all is that I have been out of high school for almost 25 years :(
ReplyDeleteI have some clothes like that in my closet! Don't feel to bad, your not alone!
ReplyDeleteYep I believe it was time to shoppong!! Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteUh, isn't that the shirt I wore to paint your son's bedroom?
ReplyDeleteNo dear sister in law, Jessie, the shirt you wore when painting my son's room was a red stripped shirt. The one featured in this post was still to prominent a part of my wardrobe to be lent out for painting!
Don't you all think she did a super job painting my son's room? I smile each time I look at the seagulls, clouds, and whale you painted. You are a gifted artist and a super dedicated aunt!
That's a quality tee to last so long. :)
ReplyDeleteI still have a couple of items that I remember buy for my honeymoon cruise..... 12 years ago. So you are not alone in the safe keeping of favorite clothing items!
ReplyDeletethose were some good times in your closet the other night! many laughs. i don't remember the last time i laughed so hard i almost peed. :) i'm glad you found those pics, too! it really paints a good 11 year picture. i love you guys and had such a fun time with you!
ReplyDeleteI'm like that too! A fave is a fave.
ReplyDeleteSee, I need help too, 'cause I see nothing wrong with that. My kids make fun of my when I wear my high school french club t-shirt around the house, though. Maybe I'm not the best authority...
ReplyDeleteCute pics!
I think if I ever drew a picture of you, it would be in that shirt. I say "why give up a good thing?" Don't you think it is kinda good that you can wear the same size after 3 babies! You go girl!
