In January of last year my good friend told me she was pregnant with her third child. Her oldest son is 10 months younger than my son, and the two of them are good buddies. Her second son is 4 months younger than my middle child. After telling me her news, she said, "Crystal, you gotta do this with me." I replied that while my husband and I knew we wanted a third child, I wasn't sure if we were quite ready.
2 weeks later I called and asked her how hard she'd been praying.
I was pregnant!
2 weeks after that my husband and I went for a dating sonogram, thinking we were around 9 weeks. When we looked at the screen my husband and I both exclaimed, "It looks like a real baby!" I am sure the tech thought we were morons, "what did we expect to see?" But, I was thinking I was around 9 weeks and 9 week sonograms look a lot more like baby lima beans. We could see our baby's hands and feet and head... we knew instantly that we were farther along than we thought. Turns out we were 15 weeks. We thought they baby would be due sometime in Sept or Oct, only to learn that our baby would be joining us in July! I had "skipped" my entire first trimester!!
I called my friend from the parking lot to inform her that not only was I going to be pregnant with her, but I was due a month before her!! Here we are showing off our pregnant bellies last summer!
Wow! That is too funny. I cannot believe you didn't know. I was nauseated and puky from conception! My third one was short two, but I missed most of my last trimester! I like your way better.
ReplyDeleteIf I could only skip my first trimester...I might try for number 4! Adorable picture, by the way!
ReplyDeleteMuch like We are THAT Family I too knew from the minute I conceived. It would always hit me the next morning like some sort of HORRIBLE flu.
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny fluke that you were further along than you originally thought. Very cute story.
found you through SFMTY...I think I've been here before, but will definitely be back!
That is hilarious. The whole story actually, but especially the being almost through the first tri while not knowing if you were ready. I guess God knew!
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute pg!
What a great story!
ReplyDeleteYou are the envy of all women with morning sickness...I think I started barfing the instant conception occurred! It's awesome that you didn't even notice your pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteThe visitor comes very regular for me, I could never not know... That is so fun to be pregnant with a friend! My best friend and I were pregnant together, and we both had gestational diabetes together.
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to get pregnant since Feb, and one of my best friends called me while I was at the airport (going to TX for my husbands Vasectomy Reversal) to say she was pregnant... She is due in Oct so I hope to be pregnant soon so we can have a few months together.
Lucky you, skipping the dreaded first tri! I've always been 'fortunate' enough to get a positive test result before I'm even late!
ReplyDeletestill one of my FAVORITE stories ever. makes me insanely jealous every time i think about it.
ReplyDeleteWow! Wish that could happen to me! Somehow the barfing always clues me in...
ReplyDeleteGod has his own timing. I knew very early with my pregnancy. Great story.
ReplyDeleteI never had morning sickness, but I knew right away! Funny story.
ReplyDeleteOH, are you blessed that you got to skip all the morning sickness and your entire first trimester! I was so sick with Lincoln that I landed in the hospital for a week.
ReplyDeleteI love your preggo pic. You were SO cute!! :) I love preggo bellies! :)
Oh too funny! I didn't know with my first until I was around 7 weeks, but it was more because I didn't want to believe it. With my son I knew at 3 weeks, and that made it seem to take forever. Missing the first trimester... wow, that had to be a whirlwind!
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I found out at 6 weeks with all three of mine - never any real morning sickness... I guess I just knew. I would have loved to skip some of the anticipation. :)
ReplyDeleteThis happened with my third one also!
ReplyDeleteIt's because I was still nursing that I had no clue!
Cute pix!
This story is hilarious! how in the WORLD do you miss 15 weeks of a pregnancy!? So glad I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago - there is never a dull moment here! :)
ReplyDeletethis story makes me laugh every time! that whole nursing thing can be convenient, huh?
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny! Cute photo!
ReplyDeleteWith my 3rd, I was so busy with moving, and two toddlers, that I didn't realize I was pregnant until I was 4 months along. I went to the Dr. for a diagnosis on the extreme fatigue and nausea. I was pregnant.
I still feel like an idiot that I didn't know until 1/2 way into my pregnancy.
With my firstborn, I was four months pregnant before I found out! I didn't have any morning sickness or a tummy to clue me in. You look adorable pregnant :)
ReplyDeleteYou really are one of my greatest friends ever! I smile every time that picture pops up on my screen saver and to look at our little ones now is something I will always treasure!
ReplyDeleteLove ya tons and the children that are here with us now!

I don't know which I'm more in awe of--that you have all your babies so close together or that you didn't know you were pregnant. How funny!
ReplyDeleteGreat story! It's so cool that your kids will grow up together :)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've always wondered how it was possible for people to say "I had no idea I was pregnant" and be really far along. But I guess you proved me wrong. In rushing around with 2 & 3 I guess the signs were not quite as prominent??
ReplyDeleteALL I CAN SAY IS WOW! My best friend and I only were pregnant once together I have 2 she has 3. And they were still 3 months apart. Good thing you already had children I would of felt major panic if it was the first one and running out of time to prepare.
ReplyDeleteWhat a NEAT story!!! It must have been so much fun to go through pregnancy along with a friend! And I am so jealous that you got to skip the first trimester....my least favorite.
ReplyDeleteToo funny...And cute picture!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! Did you get to skip the morning sickness too??
ReplyDeleteWow, that is unbelievable. You are a cute pregnant woman. I was NOT brave enough to have three. Two is plenty at my house! :-)
ReplyDeleteNothing like a pregnancy story to get women chatting and in this case commenting!!!! Amazing how fast a year goes by :)
ReplyDeleteAlways love this one - reminds me of the Nationwide commercial - "Life comes at you fast" And the littlest one has been in fast mode ever since! That is the way to get through a pregnancy though!!!
ReplyDeleteWow..... Do you know how lucky you are???? I can't imagine how you must have felt in the ultrasound room that day. : )
ReplyDeleteMy baby is due next month. I can't wait for him to be born. I'm trying to be patient. : )
